Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog, Zero Knowledge, on cryptocurrencies, blockchains, and decentralised finance. This is a subject in which I have had a significant interest for several years, since first learning about Bitcoin in 2017. Finally, I have decided to start this blog to write about my ideas in this space. Expect the articles to appear here to be a mixture of subjects:

• The underlying ideas on the technology used by the major cryptocurrencies. This will be largely educational, but may include my own thoughts on the space and how things can be improved.
• Price! Everyone’s favourite subject, whether they like to admit it or not. I am not going to be telling anyone how to get rich from cryptocurrency, but understanding how price behaves is both interesting and very important to the development of crypto.
• Speculative ideas for furthering the usefulness of cryptocurrencies. There are significant technical difficulties facing the cryptocurrency space, such as decentralizing previously centralized activities (loans, exchanges, etc) and interactions between blockchains. While such difficulties have already led to many innovative ideas, this is an area which is still expanding rapidly.

In case you are wondering about the title, it is taken from the idea of a zero-knowledge proof — a method by which one party can prove to another that they know some value x, without revealing any information about x. These are used by some cryptocurrencies, such as Zcash, to enable privacy.
